Hi! I’m Michael.

I earned my A.B. in English at Harvard with a focus on playwriting, taught 11th- and 12th-grade English through Teach For America, and was a founding teacher in the Schusterman Family Foundation’s TALMA Summer Teaching Fellowship. As co-founder of Ivy Method Tutors, I trained a team of some of the best tutors in the country, designed our curriculum, and lectured on the SAT, ACT, ISEE, and the challenges of the post-COVID admissions landscape; I’ve also served as a Harvard alumni interviewer.

As an Independent Educational Consultant, I’m a whole-child practitioner who loves helping thoughtful, motivated, ambitious, and kind students build compelling candidacy narratives, write killer admissions essays, and submit unique, authentic applications.

I’ve also had a separate career as a screen and television writer. In 2019, I was one of eight writers selected from a pool of 2,500 for participation in the Warner Bros. Writers’ Workshop, wrote on the HBO Max reboot of Degrassi, and have taught screenwriting and story structure to adults. I draw heavily on this expertise in my work with students on their college essays and supplements.

As a proud member of IECA, WACAC, and NACAC, I believe that the college search is a self-discovery process, and that when done right, it can empower students to become more empathetic, thoughtful, and independent adults.
